Three Rivers women's basketball coach Jeff Walk has been quite busy over the last few days. Walk has signed two players from Dexter in Jill Temples and Ashlee Taylor and one player from Delta, Jodi Menz.
The men's basketball team has not signed anyone yet but is looking to fill the shooting guard spot along with a hole at small forward. It will be interesting to see how the teams fill out over the next few months and I will do my best to keep people up on who is going where in Southeast Missouri. I guess now Steve Cookson will bad mouth Thomas for going out of the district to Mineral Area. Hope he decides to stay "out of the athletic department's way" from now on!
Any news on the 3R recruits yet?
The Raiders are still looking to fill about four spots for next season depending on who all returns for next year.
Just because the overall level of basketball is down this year doesn't mean that there are not a few players that they could have gotten that would have made immediate impacts. Riley Raulston definantly comes to mind, but they lost him to Mineral Area. Drew Thomas is another, but from what I hear it is either SEMO or Mineral Area. Byron Wright from Portageville was getting interest from Three Rivers towards the end of they year, but I haven't heard anything lately about it. He reminds me a lot of Hadley from Bell City with his length and athleticism. He's a better player at this point than Hadley was coming out of high school, but the redshirt year really helped Hadley improve his game.
Wish Drew Thomas would sign at TRCC, but he would have to play a lot of defense....
Any idea if they are looking at any area players to fill the shooting guard spot?
To compete at the national level, the Raiders need to get the best of the best.
