LIVE From PB: Class 5 District 1 Championship Night

We are about 10 minutes away from the boys game between Poplar Bluff and Jackson.

Bluff (19-6) beat Jackson at Peters Gym, 56-43, earlier in the year. Jay Raulston had a team-high 13 points in the last meeting.

Poplar Bluff is 3-3 in its last six games after winning nine in-a-row.


Starting lineups:

PB- Raulston, White, Johnson, Coble, Abraham

Jax- TWilliams, Keith, McDowell, HWilliams, Clark

First up is Cape Central vs. Poplar Bluff girls.

The Lady Tigers won the lone meeting between the two squads on Feb. 1 with a 48-46 victory in Cape Girardeau.

Poplar Bluff hasn't lost since that day as it has reeled off six straight wins coming into tonight's game.

Tip off in approx. 8 minutes.


Always an odd sight when the 'home' school is wearing their away jersey in their own gym. Poplar Bluff is 8-1 at Peters Gym this season with the only loss coming to Notre Dame.

Poplar Bluff's season-high in points was 68 against Liberty Tech in the championship of the Dyersburg Tournament on Dec. 30.

Johnson is two 3s away from tying the PB school record (6) for 3s in a game which she has done twice in her career.

Doniphan AD Jimbo Blackwell said this morning that Monday's games will be moved back a day due to the 2-4 inches of snow falling in the area and the numerous school closings. So the first semifinal for the boys and girls bracket will be moved to Tuesday night with same game times while Wednesday night, which was originally an open date, they will play the second semifinal games for each gender...
