Lady Royals Classic Day 3Posted Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at 10:16 PM
Just got a call from Brian Rosener who is on site at Broseley and he reports that Neelyville defeated Dexter, 82-69, in the semifinals and will move on to the championship game on Wednesday night.
In the other semifinal, Twin Rivers jumped out to a 21-4 lead and never looked back, beating Kelly 69-40. The championship is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday while the third place game is at 6. Neelyville played without Jackie Griffin (ankle injury in the quarterfinal) while leading scorer Chelsey Maupin slammed the back of her head on the court midway through the second quarter. She was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be a concussion. Coach Becky Hale was not available after the game but will check in Wednesday morning with an update. In the fifth place semifinals, Naylor beat New Madrid Central 64-53 while Kennett beat Charleston 75-58. Naylor and Kennett will play at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for fifth. In the consolation semifinals, Greenville beat Malden 57-45 while Senath beat Doniphan 57-51.
