2011 Bloomfield Christmas Tournament seeds

Here are the seeds after Monday afternoon's meeting to select the field of the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament. The top-seeded Kennett Indians are the two-time defending champions. The tournament beings Monday, Dec. 26 with the first round. On Tuesday, Dec. 27 is the consolation quarterfinals and winner's bracket quarterfinals. Wednesday, Dec. 28 will be the consolation semifinals, fifth place semifinals and semifinals. Thursday, Dec. 29 is championship night.

Here's the full bracket.

Here are the the first round matchups in bracket order. Records are current as of Monday afternoon.

(1) Kennett (2-3) vs. (16) Richland (0-4), 9 a.m.
(8) Hayti (3-2) vs. (9) Puxico (3-2), 7 p.m.

(5) Dexter (0-4) vs. (12) South Pemiscot (2-3), 2:30 p.m.
(4) Holcomb (3-1) vs. (13) Malden (2-3), 12:45 p.m.

(3) Portageville (3-0) vs. (14) Twin Rivers (1-4), 11:30 a.m.
(6) Bernie (4-1) vs. (11) Van Buren (2-3), 4 p.m.

(2) Doniphan (5-0) vs. (15) East Prairie (1-4), 10:15 a.m.
(7) Bloomfield (3-2) vs. (10) Saxony Lutheran (3-2), 5:30 p.m.

Why do they schedule the games an hour and 15 min. apart? No way!

A lot of games on the first day go to a running clock. Very rarely does the first day of the tournament get way off schedule. Last year, for example, four of the eight games were won by 30-plus points with two won by 50-plus points.

Most first round games will be a blowout and the last quarter will go by fast.

I agree though, they shouldn't schedule them so close because you never know what's going to happen
