Rob Tate has been with the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since August 2008 and is currently the assistant sports editor. Rob was born and raised in Clawson, Mich., just 14 miles north of Detroit and is an avid Tigers, Lions, Pistons, Red Wings and University of Michigan fan. He has also adopted the Rams and Mizzou to his favorites since moving to Missouri. He is a 2008 graduate of Oakland (Mich.) University where he received his bachelor of arts in journalism. Rob and his wife Sara live in Poplar Bluff.

2014 Black River League (UPDATED BRACKETS)

The Brackets are set for the 2014 Black River League Tournament which starts with the girls on Jan. 20. Clearwater is the defending champions on the boys side while Van Buren won the girls tournament last year. This year's tournament takes place at Van Buren High School. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for senior citizens and $1 for students. Below are the brackets.

I think I'll drive over to Van Buren and watch the championship on Jan. 25. I'd like to see South Iron play once before the playoffs start.

Either Clearwater or Winona will give South Iron a run for their money in the championship game.

C'water lost to SI by 3 at AV Tourney, and probably should have won. C'water is 6-1 so far and always play SI tough. I believe that the outcome will be the same as last year, another championship for C'water. I also think that C'water can take the girls side also. GO TIGERS!
