Cards in the running for Holliday
Posted Thursday, July 23, 2009, at 1:28 PM
That would be Oakland A's outfielder Matt Holliday, not Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Roy Halladay.
ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the Cardinals are discussing trading prospect Brett Wallace for Holliday.
According to Olney, any trade for Holliday would have to include Wallace, a third baseman who is batting .292 in the minors.
Holliday is batting .287 this season with 11 home runs and 54 RBI. While those numbers aren't eye-popping on their own, Holliday certainly has the track record to suggest that he could provide some legitimate protection for Albert Pujols in the St. Louis lineup.
So, what do you think?

He is still owed about $6 million of his $13.5 million salary this year. It's not clear (and I'm sure the clubs have not yet decided) who would be responsible for that $6 million should this trade happen.
