MVC championship game postponedPosted Friday, February 5, 2010, at 7:17 PM
The Mississippi Valley Conference Tournament championship game between Leopold and Oak Ridge that was scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. at Chaffee has been postponed due to the weather. The teams have not settled on a makeup date at this time.
The third place game was played earlier tonight. Meadow Heights defeated Zalma. I'm off to post the final score and box now. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

There has been talk of playing the championship of the MVC tounament between Oak Ridge & Leopold on Wed night before the Scott County & Sikeston game.Be a real treat for OR & Leopold fans & also the rest of the fans in southeast mo to see 4 state ranked teams play at the same venue. I'm sure she will be in favor of the idea. I am confident Rachel Crader would like to see this championship game. It would be hard for Crader to see this game if it is played at Chaffee at the same time the Scott County Central / Sikeston game is played at the Show Me Center.
I would love to see both games. I'm not opposed to the idea of playing the game at the Show Me Center. But I think it is a complicated proposal. I do not think moving the Sikeston / Scott County Central girls game to an earlier time is an option. Therefore, the only fair alternative would be to play the Oak Ridge / Leopold game at 4:30 or 5 p.m. I am unsure if this is an appropriate time for a conference championship. I would be in favor of the idea. But I would feel very bad for working parents that might be unable to attend their son's conference championship because of the early starting time.
I also have one additional question.
What are the chances Leopold and Oak Ridge will be willing to travel to play a basketball game anywhere on Wednesday if we get over 5 inches of snow Monday night?

Not a chance on playing with 5" snow. But something to think about. Wouldn't it be great if all the southeast conferences got together and played their championship games on the same day at th show me center. Better than some of the shootout games.

Perhaps. But it might require all of the conferences to play their conference tournaments on the same week. I cannot see this happening.
