Rachel Crader is the editor of semoball.com. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2009 before spending the summer covering the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.

Rachel has covered three Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournaments for the Southeast Missourian and semoball.com, and she'll see you courtside again this year.

Updated SEMO Invitational Schedule

I just got back from Jackson relatively un-drenched (how's that for a description) after trying to watch Day 1 action of the SEMO Invitational featuring the 17-and-under SEMO Cherokees.

We made it into the fourth inning before the skies opened up and the players finally ran from the dugouts to join their parents, most of which had been sitting in their cars for some time. I doubt they'll be playing any more baseball there today, but I'll get you an updated schedule as soon as I can.

The Lids Missouri Bulls are in a rain delay at Oran with the game tied 7-7 in the seventh inning. The field there has a tarp, which has been on the field twice already.

UPDATE: This game has been suspended. Bulls coach Mitch Wood said it would not resume and he wasn't sure what would happen the rest of the day at this point.

Play at Notre Dame, where the Cape Legion team and 18-and-under Cherokees are scheduled to play later today, has been delayed for now and the tarp is on the field. We'll see if they get the action there back underway.

UPDATE: Play at Notre Dame is scheduled to get back underway somewhere around 2 p.m. and perhaps a few minutes before.

I don't have an update from Chaffee right now. The Chaffee Babe Ruth team was to play at 10 a.m. and again 5:30 p.m.

I'll share whatever I find out here throughout the day.

Chaffee got their game in, lost 8-1. Was 2-1 until the 6th. Had some rain but not much. Play was delayed about 45 minutes. Games at Chaffee are about 45 minutes behind. The Cherokees 17U 2nd game, which was supposed to be at Jackson at 12:30 has been moved to Chaffee at 8pm tonite.

Thanks for the update, deadred. I hope to make it down to Chaffee tonight at some point. Hate to miss seeing the teams we don't get to see all summer.
