Oran plays for third in Class 1Posted Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 1:25 PM
Click here for live updates from the Class 1 third-place game between Oran and Sturgeon.
Oran's Class 1 third-place game will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday morning, an hour later than originally scheduled thanks to overnight rain.
I'm shocked MSHSAA thinks the field will be ready that soon. According to wunderground.com, 1.61 inches of rain fell last night. Heck, there was even a flood advisory issued in the area.
Obviously the infield was covered by a tarp, but it will be interesting to see how the rest of the field plays.
It's overcast but not raining at the moment. I'll have Cover It Live up and running about 10:45 or will post other updates here if needed.
It's 4:38 a.m. here in Springfield and it's pouring.
I'm not sure when it started as I've just been waking up from time to time, but I think it's safe to say that it's been raining for hours now.
I can't imagine they'll be able to play baseball at the final four today, but I'm sure they'll do everything they can to get some games in. I don't know anything about how quickly the field at Meador Park dries, and, like I said, I'm really not sure how much rain has fallen.
However, I'd say there's close to no chance that the Class 1 third-place game Oran is scheduled to play in at 10 a.m. will start on time. (Actually, I'd say there's no chance, but I have a fear of being wrong, so I'm hedging just a bit.)
I will of course pass on updates here as soon as I get them.
