Updated (again) Senior Legion Zone Tournament SchedulePosted Friday, July 27, 2012, at 3:35 PM
The Jackson Post 158 and Cape Girardeau Post 63 Legion baseball teams are participating in the Zone 4 tournament this weekend.
Jackson won the District 14 title to earn its entry into the tournament while Cape, which finished second to Jackson in the district, was invited because it is hosting the tournament at Capaha Field. Rain interrupted play on Thursday, so I've updated the schedule for the weekend below. It is a five-team, double-elimination tournament. Friday Game 1: Festus 7, Cape 3 -- noon Game 2: Jackson vs. Creve Coeur -- 3 p.m. Game 3: Festus vs. Ballwin -- 6 p.m. Game 4: Cape vs. Loser Game 2 -- 9 p.m. Saturday Game 5: Winner Game 2 vs. Winner Game 3 -- 2 p.m. Game 6: Winner Game 4 vs. Loser Game 3 -- 5 p.m. Game 7: Loser Game 5 vs. Winner Game 6 -- 8 p.m. Sunday Game 8: Winner Game 5 vs. Winner Game 7 -- 2 p.m. Game 9: Winner Game 8 vs. Loser Game 8 (if first loss) -- to follow if necessary Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I predict Jackson will win the tournament if it wins its first game.
Mother Nature could win Thursday evening, however.
It would be great if someone other than Festus won the Zone this year!
One has to wonder if former legendary Festus Legion coach Pat Bone will be in attendance for this weekend's tournament. Bone coached Festus Legion to back-to-back-to-back state titles the last three seasons before his retirement.
I plan on attending the tournament Saturday and Sunday. I wish I could be there for the preliminary play on Thursday and Friday, but am unable to make the trip because of work responsibilities. The Zone Tournament remains my favorite sporting event of the year outside of the SEMO Spike Volleyball Tournament and state volleyball tournament.
Anyone have a scouting report on Ballwin? I know it was loaded with talent in 2011.
Ballwin is only as good as their defense can take them. Last time I saw them they booted the ball far too many times and their record suffered as a result. As far as Bone goes, while I don't know what he's been doing since retiring I would think he'd be in Cape at some point this weekend to support his son.
