Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.
Rachel has covered three Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournaments for the Southeast Missourian and semoball.com, and she'll see you courtside again this year.
Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament seed breakdown and bracket
The coaches decided the seedings for the Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament on Sunday night at the Show Me Center.
I wrote a story about the event, which you can read here if you'd like. If you're not ready for math, but would like to see the tournament bracket, you can check that out here.
Below is a breakdown of how the coaches ranked each team.
I believe I caught one error on the chart, but it doesn't affect the seedings at all. I took a photo of the whiteboard where all of the rankings were written. Unfortunately, there were three numbers that I couldn't read thanks to a unnecessary flash. It only covered up one number each from three different teams, so it was easy enough to just do the math and figure out which number was missing.
However, the math on the Notre Dame line was off. I have put an asterisk by the number in question. In order for the math to be right that number would need to be an eight, but no one would rank ND that low and, more importantly, that would put 17 eights on the board. Since there are only 16 ballots, that can't be right. I counted up all of the numbers, and found that there were just 15 fives cast, so the missing ND number was likely a five and its total should be 49, I think. The board listed ND's total as 52.
Congratulations if you were able to follow along with all of that. If not, don't worry. It doesn't make any real difference in the seedings.
Each coach cast a ballot, but he did not vote for his own team. That means you end up with 16 ballots ranking teams 1-15.
Leopold had the widest range of seedings. Some coaches listed the Wildcats as high as third while others listed them seventh.
