Rachel Crader is the editor of semoball.com. She graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2009 before spending the summer covering the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas.

Highlights from Rachel's days in college include having a class down the hall from Chase Daniel and having NCAA wrestling champion Ben Askren hold the door open for her at Brady Commons, Mizzou's student center. She spent time covering Mizzou basketball, softball and baseball while working for the Columbia Missourian and is excited to return home to Southeast Missouri to cover local sports for semoball.com.

Woodland Tournament seeds

The Woodland boys basketball tournament will take place the week of Dec. 2.

Here are the seeds:

1. Perryville

2. Oak Ridge

3. Leopold

4. Woodland

5. Scott City

6. Meadow Heights

7. Delta

8. Zalma

I'll post a bracket with the game times later.

One has to wonder how many teams have a legitimate chance to win it all at Woodland this season. The field appears wide open.

Not trying to sound like sour grapes, but if what I'm hearing is correct, Oak Ridge got screwed over in the seed meeting. Apparently where you went to school means more to some of the coaches than what kind of team you have.

Typically when your confident enough in your team 's ability to be the top team in the tournament, your care free of the seed they receive, especially in the ever so competitive Woodland Invitational.

You're right, but it doesn't make it right when a coach seeds a team differently from everyone else because he went to school there.

I don't have a problem with Woodland trying to keep the same teams in their tournament. Just a couple of years ago, 4 of the better teams in the area were there (pville, leopold, sc, and oak ridge.

Competitiveness is all perception, do you really think the #1 seed in the OIT would be ranked higher than 7th in the Semo conf tournament.

they would be ranked lasted.. and yes it does make a little difference.. instead of playing woodland or Scott city now the 2 see has to play Leopold. Big disparity between Leopold and SC/Woodland.

It seem like the simple solution would be not to have coaches vote for seeding. It's the start of a new year with players leaving and new one coming up. Just draw numbers. If your worried about cheating then have an A.D. from a school not involved in the tournament do the drawing. PROBLEM SOLVED

Actually a simple solution would be for the coaches to come to the seeding meeting in the first place. Sending your seeds with someone and not listening to the other coaches and what they have to say is the wrong way of doings something.
