Re-Updated Volleyball Action This Week

Posted Sunday, September 20, 2009, at 11:40 PM

Let me start off by recapping last weeks games, in case you missed the team tracker info. On the road trip to Bernie the Wildcats JV lost in 3 good sets. 25/18 Bernie won, 25/18 Leopold won and the tie breaker ended at 25/14, with Bernie winning. The varsity Wildcats claimed another victory, defeating the Lady Mules 25/22 25/19. The home game against Advance was played to a fairly packed house. The JV Wildcats lost in 3 very heated sets. 25/21 Advance won, 25/22 Leopold won and the tie breaker went to Advance 25/14. The varsity match up between the Lady Hornets and their host was also a good game, which Leopold won in 2 sets, 25/1725/18. This makes the varsity Wildcats record 10-1. Seeing how well Bernie and Advance's JV's played this week, I can foresee both Bernie and Advance being stiff competition to all area teams, not only this season but in future volleyball seasons to come. I did not personally attend the Meadow Heights JV tournament Saturday but I heard threw the grapevine that the JV Lady Wildcats won first place. (If anyone has any information on which teams played and/or any action that took place, I'd love to hear it, please post it here on semoball.)

Now to our upcoming games. Here on the farm, really busy days are called R.F.D's, which stands for Rich Full Days. I guess then, what we have coming up this week on the volleyball circut should be called an R.F.W. Rich Full Week. Leopold has 3 games this week and all of them on the road.

On Monday, Leopold travels to Marquand, home of the Lady Tigers. Marquand dose have both a JV and varsity team this year. I don't mind the trip to Marquand, especially during volleyball season. It's still daylight when you leave home and it's a good country drive threw the woods and back roads of Bollinger and Madison counties. The Marquand school has been going threw some transformations lately. When I was there to watch Zalma play last week, I noticed that part of the old school building has been torn down and a new entrance has been made to the gym. I believe I read somewhere that they will be getting a new gym in the future. If that is so, this may be one of my last chances to experience the unique gym the Tigers call home.

UPDATE!!! Zalmas JV won't be in action Thursday night, due to some of the players haveing other obligations. Please take note..there will only be varsity action at Zalma.

On Thursday, Leopold travels to Zalma to visit the Lady Bulldogs. What can I say....this is my favorite match-up of the year. Anytime the Wildcats play the Bulldogs, I'm happy.

Yet another update!! It was brought to our attention that the JV at Bell City will not be in action Friday night due to players being on the injured list.

On Friday, Leopold is off to Bell City to play the Cubs. I grabbed a dictionary and looked up the word competition, one definition was.. the act of competing; rivalry for supremacy, a prize, etc. Good competition, that's what's on the court when Leopold plays Bell City. The Bell City/Leopold game always seems to bring out the best in both teams, which makes for a great game. I'm sure both teams will have a loud crowd of fans cheering with pride for their team too, which helps fuel the competition. Leopold and Bell City have a history of competing in sectional play also, which helps fuel the competition at their regular season game. Varsity action will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Oh Marcia, I love reading your blogs. They are so well written and much less controversial than mine (ha). I mean that sincerely. I wish I could go to the Leopold-Bell City game but we play Meadow Heights that night so I can't go, but please call me and let me know who wins! I don't know if I'll have service up in Patton but if you can't reach me, please leave me a voicemail. I can't wait to read your next blog about this big match-up. Good luck to the Lady Wildcats and I'll see you Thursday! =)

Thanks for the kind words, Cody..I try. I wish I was better at keeping track of game stats to post on here, like kills and assist, but I'm too busy watching the games to jot much down. I hope my blogs don't sound to repetitive. I enjoy your blogs too. My hope is that our blogs will bring some attention to the local high school volleyball action around the area. It seems to come up on the short end of the stick, coverage wise. I wish more people would sign up to be bloggers about their teams. I will definitely give you a ring Friday night. We're looking forward to Thursday nigh! It's our favorite game of the year.

How about that game last night, Marcia? I think that was the most exciting high school volleyball game I've seen in years. I wish I could go to the Leopold-Bell City game tonight but we have a game at Meadow Heights (hate that drive!) so be sure to call me and let me know how it went and have a good weekend!

horselover72, Hello fellow volleyball lover. Leopold in my home team and I blog about them, for the most part. Leopold dosen't play Dexter regular season, I don't know why, we play Bernie. semoball is always looking for people to blog about sports, especially volleyball. Why not turn your love for volleyball into a blog about the Dexter Bearcats? Do you attend any of the games? It's easy to do, blogging. Just jot down a few game details, put them together, and post them. First you sign up to be a blogger, which is easy to do also. If blogging is not for you, how about becoming a teamtracker? Thats easy to do also. I hope this is something you can do, I'd love to see move volleyball coverage on semoball.

Marcia, and her husband Tony, are avid Leopold Wildcat fans. Win, lose or draw, volleyball, baseball, softball, basketball, they're in the stands, cheering for the mighty Blue and White.

Living in southern Bollinger County, they also enjoy watching the Zalma Bulldogs. The only thing that takes them away from local school sports is farming. That, thank heavens, usually starts about the time the school year is ending in the spring, so there is little conflict. They live in the Glennon community, with their dog Jay Jay, and their cat Miss Addie Lee.
