Leopold faces off against Richland

Posted Friday, January 22, 2010, at 8:37 AM

Last night Leopold made the long journey down to Richland to face off against the 6th ranked team. The JV Wildcats won their game.

The Varsity played hard. The trailed Richland by at least ten until the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter the Wildcats kept coming back and eventually trailed the Rebels by two. But then in some bad luck, Leopold fouled Richland and allowed the Rebels to pull ahead to win the game 76-71. Good job boys! You played hard!!

The Wildcats will travel to Chaffee next Tuesday, January 26.

Larry, Larry, Larry... You must learn some to resist.

That's OK, I deserved it. But I hope you know what I meant.

Never resist. Fight the power Larry. LOL

That was a great game. For the Wildcats to be down as far as they were in the first part of the match, they fought back and made a VERY tight game out of it. I was impressed with their ability to fight back. They never gave up and that's what we love to see. Richland had Leopold down by I beleive as much as 19 points at one spot in the game. Richland is tough outside shootting 3's. Like I've said before, Stoddard County teams are hard to beat on their home courts.

The legendary Ronnie Cookson was in attendance for this game. It's never too early to start scouting for the district championship game.

No offense drawmules, but there is no reason for Ronnie Cookson and SCC to be worried about anyone in their district. Even though Leopold and Richland are ranked, the #1 Seeded Scott County is in a class of their own.

That's what people said about Eminence in volleyball this season and Winona found a way to pull off the upset in the district championship.

I sat behind Coach Cookson at Richland, why don't you ask him why he was there? He knows you never really know what is going to happen until the final buzzer sounds. He did not get where he is by not being prepared. If the kids from Richland put 4 quarters together like the first against Leopold, Scott County may have their hands full. I am also sure Coach Kinder and his bunch will be doing their best to make it hard on Richland and Scott County come district time. As has been menitoned before, you play the game on the court, not the computer because you never know who is going to show up to play on any given night.

Did I say he wasnt there or that he didnt have a reason? I said he has no reason to be there. As they showed in the Christmas Tournament, Scott County has a hold on any of the teams in this area. Hands down. These teams, Richland and Leopold are good, but not Scott County. Take them out of it, maybe they would go somewhere.

You also missed my point on what makes high school basketball so much fun. Like you said at the Christmas Tournament, did you see them play Charleston. I think Charleston was maybe ahead or at least close at halftime and were beaten by less than 15. They played them as close as anyone.

If either Richland or Leopold plays them 10 times, SCC will win at least 9. But its that one chance that keeps us all going.

I understand that MSHSAA is investigating SCC for Grade Violations.

Excellent Post Deervalley that is what is so fun about HS Basketball. I'd say if schools didn't have rules we could all have athletes year after year.

I would love to be able to put stats up in my blogs deervalley but, I have no how to get the stats because I really can't keep track during the game. I might have to figure out a way to steal the score book.....hmmmmm?

queenofsidelines, talk to the official scorekeeper at the game they might give you access to the stats. Its worth a shot, I would assume thats where the newspaper gets their stat information from.
