Southeast basketball programs sign two apiece on first day of signing period
The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's basketball teams each signed a pair of players on the opening day of the spring signing period while the men's team also added a preferred walk-on.
The men's team signed forward David Williams and guard Marcus Wallace along with Sikeston's JT Jones as a preferred walk-on.
The 6-foot-6 Williams played three seasons at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro before deciding not to play his senior year.
He will enroll in graduate school at Southeast for his final season of eligibility.
Williams averaged 5.1 points and 4.4 rebounds during his career at UNC-Greensboro.
Wallace is a 6-1 senior guard from Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Ark.
He averaged 20.6 points, 5.2 assists 5.8 rebounds and 3.2 steals during his senior season.
Jones joins the team as a preferred walk-on after averaging 17.8 points, 10.2 rebounds, four assists and 3.5 steals as a senior.
Dexter senior guard Hannah Noe and senior power forward Deja Jones from Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., both signed to play for Southeast women's basketball coach Ty Margenthaler.
Noe averaged 20.3 points, 3.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds during her senior season en route to helping her team to the Class 4 state championship game.
Jones, who transferred to Riverdale her senior year, missed some of the season with a broken wrist.
She averaged 22.1 points per game at Friendship Christian Academy prior to her season at Riverdale.
I'm working on a couple of stories, so check the website later tonight and tomorrow's paper for more information and the coach's thoughts on these new additions.
