Cape Central, Malden advance to football final fours
The Cape Central and Malden football teams posted lopsided victories on Friday night to advance to the final four in their respective classes.
Cape Central defeated Affton on the road 34-14 in its Class 4 quarterfinal to advance to the state semifinals for a second consecutive season. The Tigers will face either St. Charles West or Westminster next week in a state semifinal. The St. Charles West-Westminster game will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.
A St. Charles West victory would mean another road game for the Tigers, while a Westminster win will allow the Tigers to host the semifinal game.
Malden, meanwhile, won it's Class 2 quarterfinal 47-6 over Cardinal Ritter on the road. The Green Wave will now get the matchup that's been the talk of semoball all season when it hosts Lamar in a game that will likely be played next Saturday due to the lengthy travel time for Lamar.
Lamar defeated Strafford 48-17 on Friday.
We'll have complete coverage of both wins up as soon as possible.
