Four local softball players sign with Three Rivers Community College

Four local softball high school standouts will play at Three Rivers Community College next season.

Notre Dame second baseman Payton Friga and centerfielder Lindsey Elfrink, Jackson outfielder/pitcher Sophie Wunderlich and Cape Girardeau Central shortstop Sydney Tollison signed letters of intent Wedensday.

Friga, Elfrink and Tollison were all named to the Class 3 District 1 All District Softball Team. The Bulldogs' duo were part of back-to-back trips to the final four. Notre Dame were third this year after a runners-up finish in 2015.

Wunderlich earned a first-team SEMO All-Conference selection as an outfielder, and Friga joined her on the first team. Elfrink was an all-conference honorable mention. Tollison went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in her last high school game, a 10-7 loss to Sikeston in the district semifinals.
