Notre Dame softball catcher Morgan Duschell signs with NAIA school
Monday, Notre Dame softball catcher Morgan Duschell signed with Auburn University at Montgomery, which placed fourth at the NAIA World Series last season.
Duschell was the 2016 Southeast Missourian Softball Player of the Year and a two-time All-State honoree. Duschell could also win the 2017 player of the year award, which will be announced this summer, and was a 2016 Semoball softball finalist.
In three varsity seasons, Duschell had a .458 batting average (121-for-264), including .495 her junior season. This past campaign, Duschell had 41 hits and a .423 average. As a sophomore, Duschell batted .469 with 30 hits.
Duschell was an integral part of two Bulldogs teams that advanced to the final four. In 2015, Notre Dame lost in the state championship game. This past season, the Bulldogs won the third-place game.
At AUM, Duschell will join another local high school product, former Portageville star Taylor Tiffany. The 2015 and 2016 Semoball Softball Player of the Year is currently a freshman pitcher for the Warhawks
