Notre Dame softball senior Sydney Newell signs with Hannibal-LaGrange

Notre Dame softball first baseman Sydney Newell signed with NAIA Hannibal–LaGrange University on Thursday.
This past season, Newell had a .338 batting average with seven extra-base hits and 13 RBIs. The senior hit four doubles, two triples and one home run. She also scored 14 runs.
A starter on the Bulldogs team that claimed third place at state, Newell was an All-District selection in Class 3 District 1.

Newell, who plays basketball at Notre Dame, is the fifth Bulldog to sign with a college program since the season ended. Catcher Morgan Duschell will join another NAIA school, Auburn University at Montgomery.
HLU was 23-29 last year.
