Notre Dame's Winston Welter signs with Three Rivers College
Notre Dame senior Winston Welter signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play baseball at Three Rivers College.
Welter, who also plays on the Bulldogs' basketball team, was hurt for most of last season before he returned to post nine hits in 34 at-bats (.265 average). He did that while playing at about 80 percent, according to ND coach Jeff Graviett. Before the injury, Welter was also slated to the Bulldogs' No. 3 hitter last year, according to Graviett.
Welter is the second Bulldog to sign with a college program. Garrett Siebert will play baseball at Danville Community College next year.
Last season, Notre Dame advanced to a Class 4 state quarterfinal before falling to MICDS.
Three Rivers College, located in nearby Poplar Bluff, Missouri, plays at the junior college level.
