Cape Central's Christian Mitchell signs with Morthland College

Cape Girardeau Central senior Christian Mitchell signed a national letter of intent to play football at Morthland College on Friday.

As a defensive lineman, Mitchell had 18 tackles for loss and seven sacks this past season, both team highs. He also set a school record with 5.5 sacks in one game. Mitchell totaled 66 tackles was an all-region and all-district selection.

Mitchell was named to the SEMO North all-conference team and was an All-Missourian selection as Cape Central advanced to the Class 4 quarterfinals for the fourth straight season.

Mitchell will play rush linebacker at Morthland, which is located in West Frankfurt, Illinois. Morthland is a National Christian College Athletic Association member and plays in NCCAA Division I. The Patriots went 5-3 last year in their first season as a varsity program.
