Advance's Preston Wuebker to play basketball at Fontbonne University
Former Advance boys basketball guard Preston Wuebker signed to play basketball at Fontbonne University on Friday in the gym annex in Advance, Missouri.
Wuebker, who graduated from Advance in May, averaged 16.3 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this past season as the Hornets advanced to the Class 1 state championship game before falling to Walnut Grove 65-62.
The 6-foot-1 guard shot 48.3 percent from the field (189-for-391), 39.2 percent on 3-pointers (89-for-227) and 87.3 percent on free throws (55-for-63). Wuebker was a first-team all-conference selection.
Fontbonne University is located in St. Louis, and has Division III athletic programs. The Griffins compete in theSt. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the men's basketball team went 3-22 this past season.
Wuebker is the third area athlete to sign with Fontbonne this year. Jackson baseball Braeden Dobbs, and Jackson girls basketball and soccer player Rylee Stafford will also play for the Griffins.
