Cape Central's Reece twins sign with Westminster College
Cape Girardeau Central girls basketball players Abbie and Corrie Reece signed with Division III Westminster College on Monday.
Abbie Reece was an all-district and first team All-SEMO Conference selection as a juniro in the 2016-17 season. She also made the All-Southeast Missourian team. She averaged 15 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks per game. She was also selected to the Kelso Supply Classic and Hillsboro Invitational all-tournament teams.
Corrie Reece, Abbie's twin, averaged 11 ppg, 3 apg and 2.3 spg that same season. She was named Cape Central's Offensive Player of the Year last season while Abbie was the MVP.
The two recently finished up their senior seasons, as they helped lead Central to the Class 4 District 1 semifinals.
"I had a chance to first see the twins play a couple years ago and knew they were going to play college basketball somewhere," Westminster women's basketball coach James Arnold said in a news release. "We are super excited to say that place is Westminster College."
James Arnold is a former Southeast Missouri State women's basketball assistant coach, leaving this past offseason to take the job at Westminster.
Westminster College is located in Fulton, Missouri, and the women's basketball team was picked to finish fourth in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in a preseason poll.
