Jackson's Desmond Morris signs with Millikin
Jackson senior guard Desmond Morris signed to play basketball at Millikin University on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
"We are extremely excited to be adding Desmond to our basketball program,” Milliken coach Mark Scherer said in a news release. “He is a complete player who has the ability to make perimeter jump shots, make plays on the bounce, and is a tremendous passer. He also is a versatile defender with a great level of toughness."
Morris averaged nine points per game for Jackson, which fell in the Class 5 District 1 title game to Poplar Bluff. He was a 37-percent career 3-point shooter and made the all-tournament team at the Lindbergh Invitational as a senior. He finished his career with 674 career points.
"Desmond is an extremely competitive player,” Jackson coach Darrin Scott said in a news release. “He plays tough on both ends of the floor and has been a great defender for us at the high school level.”
Milliken is located in Decatur, Illinois, and has Division III athletic programs. Last year, Scherer's first at the helm, the Big Blue finished with an 11-14 record, including 4-12 in conference. It was the program's most wins and best non-conference record in over a decade, according to a news release.
