Suspended Indefinitely!

I'm done. I'm formally announcing my retirement from sports blogging.

That is, until I decide to pull a Brett Favre, or to a lesser extent, a "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, and unretire. Then repeat the process again and again until you're so sick of me that you cancel your internet so you don't have to deal with me anymore.

Seriously though, I am officially taking a hiatus from regular sports blogging so I can pursue some other projects, most notably some writing projects that I've had on the back burner for quite some time now. I love writing the blog, but recently I've had a lot going on in my life and haven't been able to put enough time or thought into it to really satisfy me--my entries don't seem to have the passion or creativity they used to, and that bothers me. They seem rushed and unfulfilling.

On top of that, I've already covered most of the issues I really wanted to cover, and frequently find myself at a loss for a topic. Like I've said before, I like writing about topics that relate to me as a sports fan, not analysis of games or players or trade rumors or speculation or stuff like that--that's for the professionals to deal with. So while I could go on talking about that stuff, I thought maybe a better idea would be to step aside for the time being and let my data banks refill.

Fortunately, sports will always provide new stories and new scenarios, new diva athletes to complain about, new impossible finishes to re-tell over and over again, new great plays and new hilarious manager meltdowns. So I know for a fact that as a sports fan who loves to write, sports blogging is something I'll probably have to return to someday. That being said, if things really get out of hand in the sports world, things that really fire me up, I have a feeling I'll be able to contribute a passionate entry here and there. But right now, I no longer have the time to do it regularly, and I would rather step down and do an occasional good entry than try to keep a regular schedule and be disappointed in the result because I missed a week or made an uninspired entry for the sake of keeping my schedule.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know what was going on in case you were wondering where I've been. To anyone who ever read this thing, thank you so much for your support and for the opportunity to write about something I love to an equally passionate audience. It's been a lot of fun, and God willing, you haven't seen the last of me!
