Jackson soccer boots Cape Central 2-1

Senior forward Matt Mueller scored a goal and assisted on another with a perfect throw-in that led to a goal for Joel Smart.

Spencer McCormack assisted on Mueller's goal to open scoring. Smart scored with a little over 10 minutes left in the first half for a 2-0 Jackson lead.

Lucian Johnson scored for Central in the final 2 minutes of the first half on an assist from Zach Zaruba.

The Tigers had chances in the second half, including a shot on a free kick by Zaruba that was turned away by Justin Darnell and hit the left post before Jackson eventually turned away the threat.

The Indians will play Tuesday at Farmington against the winner of the Class 3 District 2 tournament.
