I would imagine that SCC will take over the number 1 spot in the state. Jefferson, who is the defending Class 1 champion, was ranked number 1 last week but had their long win streak snapped and ended up losing either 2 or 3 games in a tournament at William Jewel. They have the bracket on MoSports, but its a little confusing.
Again, thanks Toby for your wonderful coverage!
oh, and watch out when Otto (Bubba) fills out and grows some more (which he will). He's gonna be a great player and SCC should be loaded for a few more years to come. Maybe they can hang a few more banners.
I wonder how the state rankings will come out now that Bell City got beat by Scott City. It's a shame they lost, I would have loved to see SCC and BC play again. What a great rivalry.
I imagine Scott County will pull ahead in the state rankings; Cubs coach Brian Brandtner said his team was manhandled in the tournament and came out with some injuries. Marty Dames, who has been battling injuries already, hurt his finger in the finale, while Austin Bush (sporting a face guard in the finale) looks to be headed for surgery.
On Scott County's end, Caleb Johnson has the ankle sprain that forced him out of the fifth-place game, and there's the matter of Drew Thomas, who missed the bus to the game.
Ouch!!!
