Associate AD news here and therePosted Thursday, August 7, 2008, at 2:48 PM
I have heard from more than one person that Southeast Missouri State has lined up its candidate to be the new associate athletic director, a new position that was recommeded in the review of the department by Carr Sports Associates this spring. The position recommended was to be an associate AD for external matters — fundraising, promotions, marketing, etc. Another position was to be for internal matters — managing the athletic programs, etc. — and the reassignment of duties was intended to free up some time for other management duties for athletic director Don Kaverman. The current structure has Kaveman overseeing the main sports and managing the department while Cindy Gannon had been listed as senior women's administrator and associate director of athletics. University officials as of this second have not yet confirmed a hiring for the position. Kaverman had been a finalist for the associate AD post at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., where he had been on staff earlier in his career. He interviewed and took part in a public forum that was part of the process before pulling out of contention on his return to Cape Girardeau. Coles, a 1999 graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana, fits the bill as a potential successor to current AD Tom Kirinovic.
