Take on Toby: On to Week 2 of football picks

Posted Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at 9:38 AM

It wasn't pretty for me in Week 1 of the football season, but a few others didn't struggle so much with the first picks of the 2008 area high school and college football seaon.

Jean_valjean and Semohoops each picked 12 of 14 correct.

I tied for last among the group with an 8-6 record. That leaves me with some ground to make up this season.

The Jackson loss at Riverview Gardens stumped everyone while just two of 10 prognosticators correctly picked Scott City to beat visiting Malden.

The quicker we can forget Week 1 the better. But first, here are the standings:

On to Week 2.

SEMO at MissouriMissouri by 49

The biggest high school event of the week will be the 100th anniversary of the Sikeston-Charleston series. Each team comes in 0-1.

Jackson's trip to Parkway South should be interesting as the Indians try to bounce back from the one-point loss at Riverview Gardens. Parkway South lost 20-10 last week against SLUH in a very competitive game.

Poplar Bluff's trip to Union should be a challenge as the Mules, fresh off the win against New Madrid County Central, are about to see a spread formation in the passing variety.

You can make your picks in the comments section of this blog entry.

Look for the Semoball High 5 to be updated today (Wednesday).

The "Bean" still respects Toby even though he had a bad week. Your picks look a little better this week, as I agree on all of your picks except Jackson. Not to disrespect Coach Hitt, but the road is not kind to the Indians. As I remember, Gosnell always gives SEMO teams fits. But I'll stick with Dexter on top...
