The Semoball.com stats crew is working on collecting numbers to begin running high school football statistics next week.

Some schools have not yet reported statistics and can do so by e-mail (tcarrig@semissourian.com) or fax (573-334-7288).

Some of the interesting numbers of the first week:

* Scott City's Cody Page was credited with 10 tackles and Austin Brawley had two interceptions in the Rams' 14-6 victory against Malden.

* New Madrid County Central put the ball on the ground nine times, losing three fumbles to Poplar Bluff in a 26-16 loss. The Eagles also had an interception to end a drive into Mules territory that could have given them a three touchdown lead just after halftime.

* Poplar Bluff had just 21 yards of offense in the first half before erupting for 177 in the second half. Sophomore Pete Bryant has just four carries in his prep career but he has 172 yards and two touchdowns.

* Passing efficiency was pretty high in some places: Sikeston's Charlie Bohannon completed 4 of 6 for 103 yards; Dontre Jenkins of New Madrid completed 7 of 13 for 141 yards and two TDs; and Aaron Horrell of Chaffee was 7 of 9 for 62 yards and a TD. He also rushed for 74 yards in his first varsity start at QB.

* Kennett's Blake Parr passed for 274 yards and three TDS (with two interceptions) on 13 of 30 passing in the Indians' 32-22 win against Charleston. Jarvis Finley caught seven balls for 179 yards and two touchdowns.

* Among the early scoring leaders, Keenan Williams of Hayti had three TDs for 18 points, Chaffee's Chris Thomas has 16 points and Sikeston's Eli Jackson has 15.

* Keenan Williams rushed for 120 yards for Hayti, while East Prairie's M.C. Williams, one of the area's leading ground gainers last year, picked up 147 yards on 30 carries in the same game.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has been prepping for the SEMO-Mizzou game with some recent stories, including:
