This seems one of those stretches where a lot of sporting events happen in one area, namely, the state of Missouri.

The BMW Championship concluded on Sunday, as 23-year-old Camelo Villegas won his first PGA Tour event to cap a mostly successful weekend for Bellerive Country Club.

Next on the calendar is the Tour of Missouri cycling race, which began today on the western side of the state.

This year's event has one more stage than last year's debut, and it will have 14 cities involved as starting or finishing points. However, the event still won't come through Southeast Missouri this time.

The race concludes Sunday in St. Louis.

Maybe that will take the minds of Missouri sports fans off the state of the Rams.

You can read about SEMO's trip to Missouri for Saturday's game:

-- In the Columbia Tribune.

-- In the Columbia Missourian, with a great photo of Chase Coffman hurdling Eddie Calvin.

-- In the Kansas City Star, including the video blog by beat writer Mike DeArmond.

-- And in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The box score from the Mizzou-SEMO game indicates freshman Tyrone Reece from Cape Central had two carries for -5 yards for Mizzou. (Must have been on Missouri's last drive.) Jackson's Grant Ressel, the second-team punter, hit a 43-yarder with no return earlier in the fourth quarter. Ressel is listed as a redshirt freshman.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has bad news for area ski fans: Hidden Valley may be closing. It is the only ski resort on this side of the state.
