Some I-AA financial numbers to chew on (as SIU hires money maker)

On the way to Terre Haute for today's big SEMO football game -- the Redhawks dug themselves a 14-0 hole but moved back within a touchdown against Indiana State, which is trying to break a 17-game losing streak -- I picked up a copy of the Southern Illinoisan newspaper and saw the teaser on the front page to SIU's hiring of a fund raiser.
Here's the story on the hiring of Kevin Ginther, who raised money at Boston College.
Southeast was expected to hire an associate AD for external operations, including fundraising, as a result of a review of the department, but AD Don Kaverman said last week that the process of recruiting applicants is not under way.
Out of curiosity, as SEMO, hapless Indiana State and SIU are on the same Division I-AA level with Appalachian State, I was curious how much the schools spend, and make, on football.
According to the EADA reports for 2006-07 (last year's data should be released next month):
Appalachian State also had revenue ($657,495) and expenses ($707,787.93) related to four NCAA tournament games.
Halftime approaches: Indiana State 14, SEMO 7.

Wonder how much of the App State revenue was from the Michigan game?
So...football lost about $640k last year, with a huge payday from Arkansas.. wow!

App State was paid 400,000 to play Michigan. They were paid 550,000 to play LSU this year.

I think it would be good to have the next Athletics Director do all of the hiring, including this position. The person that replaces Kaverman will pretty much be starting at ground zero with the rebuilding of the athletic department.
