Van Hitt, an assistant coach at Jackson since 1979, has been named the new head coach of the Indians.
From what John Martin just told me the school was keeping the search primarily within and Hitt and assistant coach Nathan Norman were the only two to apply.

Thanks for the heads up Chris!!!
Best of luck to the man. Though he's been with at Jackson since '79, he still has big shoes to fill.
Seamless Transition, conrats Coach Hitt
Congrats
Cape, Perryville, Poplar Bluff, what is the word on these schools?
pb just lost coach robbins a week ago so they are just beginning the search for a new coach. a committee of 5 hopes to have a candidate for the board to vote on at the april board meeting.
I am almost certain that Cape Central isn't too far behind to name Brookins' replacement. This new era of the Battle of the River Road should be a good one.
Now my life can get going again!
I gotta go to the bathroom...
Told you so!
Congratulations, Coach. We'll be rooting for you.
hes been the assistant coach since 79 and he just NOW becoming head coach?
My hat goes off to Jackson school district for their loyalty to one of their own. I would like to see Cape stick close to home with their new head coach. Pride and loyalty come hand in hand with history...Congrats Coach Hitt. Best of luck to you and your program.
He is approaching his 30th season with the Indians. Best of luck! I'm sure his experience will be great to continue the winning program.
Great teacher and Great coach. Congrats!!!
So how long will he stay. Probably just long enough for us to loose a good YOUNG coach like Nathan Norman.
Congratulations Coach Hitt and good luck!
Congratulations, but does it make sense to hire someone with 29 years of service?
To Confused 52,
Perryville hired Jim May who has been an assistant coach at Chaffee for several years. His home town is Scott City.
Olebluehair- Do you honestly think that Jackson will lose Norman? You are obivously not from there and a little bitter that they hired an older coach. He will be there a couple years and then it will be Norman's turn. The man has been there for 29 years. I think that he deserves the position before he hangs it up.

Has been a HC before Jackson
Congratulations, but does it make sense to hire someone with 29 years of service?

Yeah, when you have been that loyal. He deserves it more then anyone else right now.
Wasnt trying to call anyone out. Just venting
missypoo,
Thanks I think-missypoo?
I was rooting for Seth McDowell...maybe he'll get the Central job.
My advice to Coach Hitt....stay off the school computers or use them for their intended use. SMILE
Nathan Norman deserves the job. Hang in there Nathan until the good ole boys system is to old to keep you out
I will not be voting for the current school board members that made this horrible decision
chsfan101, I recommend changing your handle. That trainwreck over in Cape cant even find a coach. Jackson hired one that has been there for 29 years. You give and you shall recieve. Your guys arent even loyal enough to take a ____ in the schools toilets.
From reading your blogs, I am glad that you choose not to vote. Stick to supporting central. Take your vote to their school board and help them decide if they should cancel the next football season.
footballfan0744,
I save my dumps for the Jackson Toilets. I am simply saying that just because a person has been at the same school longer doesn't mean he's more qualified. Norman played D1 football. The game of football has changed in the past 29 years. Norman could bring some fresh life in the Indian program. The days of smashmouth football are over. Thats why Jackson cant make it to the bowl. I know Jackson is loaded with talent. They have the best youth program in the region, and everyone who wants to play football moves to Jackson. Like I did. That doesn't mean I cant root for Central when Jackson isn't playing them.
Congrats to coach Hitt, but if you ask me Ron Hobeck would have been another excellent choice. The man is a LEGEND!
Why did Gross "Retire"? No one from Jackson how is in the know will let it out of the bag. Lots of rumors swirling, let the public know.
