Who do you think will win this year -- Chaffee or Scott City?

Chaffee won the big rivalry game last year 21-19 to break Scott City's 21-game winning streak over the Red Devils.

The Red Devils and Rams play Friday night at 7 p.m at Scott City High School.

"There is not a whole of a difference from the team they had last year from what I can see from looking at films and stuff," Scott City coach Ronnie Jones said of Chaffee. "Coach [Charlie] Vickery has them going in the right direction. They are playing pretty good football."

Jones said one difference is that this year's Chaffee offense throws the football more.

Chaffee quarterback Aaron Horrell has completed 37-of-59 passes for 457 yards. He has thrown for five touchdowns and one interception.

"He [Horrell] is the type of kid who if you give him enough time [he will complete passes]," Jones said. "His receivers are disciplined and they run real good routes. A lot of them are timing routes. You can watch them on the films, the ball is in the air before the receivers actually break to the area in which they are going to try to make the reception."

Jones said his linebackers and entire defense must keep a close eye on the Red Devils' tendency to start sending backfield players out to catch passes.

Vickery said Horrell has been accurate when the offensive line affords his quarterback time to throw the football.

Vickery added that Jones always has his defense ready to play.

"Their defensive backs play well," Vickery said of Scott City. "They put pressure up front. I just think overall they are just very solid defensively. They always have been.

"I think they are real balanced," Vickery said of the Scott City offense. "[Jones] runs in and out four or five running backs. The quarterback [Cody Page] is a big, strong kid who can throw it. They've got some good receivers. They are big up front. So they are just real balanced at what they do."
