Jackson plays Farmington on Friday night. The Indians defense likely will have their hands full with the Knights, who run a no huddle-offense. Farmington is averaging 31.2 points per game so far this season despite being shutout against Helias a couple weeks ago. Jackson was without Cole Rodgers last week but Rodgers will play this week.

The following is a question and answer with Jackson coach Van Hitt --

Question: How about that Farmington offense? How often do they run plays with a no-huddle?

Van Hitt: I've heard their coaches talk. They try to do it on a 14-second cycle. They use the spread offense. It's a very deceptive offense. It looks like it's not a very strong offense for the run but it's actually a good running offense not just a good passing offense. And their quarterback makes good decisions with the football. He doesn't try to force passes into areas that are covered. They are deceptive with the offense. And they don't make any mistakes to turn the ball over.

Q: [Jackson was 10-0 during the 2007 regular but has started this year 2-3.] Are the players still concerned or remaining positive?

VH: Yeah. They are very upbeat. They understand we played a heck of a football team [Hazelwood Central last week]. To me, it was the best team on our schedule this year. We know if we get things put together we can win this conference and we can win the district. … It was a little easier [of a schedule] last year. They [the players] know that. I told them, 'We could go out and schedule teams that we can beat 30-0 but you don't get any better doing that.' Our goal is to get ready to play the conference and the district and that's exactly where we're at right now.

Q: Any adjustments your team needs to make on offense after scoring seven points last week?

VH: We need to do a much better job at blocking at the point of attack. On contact we need to keep our feet moving and move people out of the way. I felt like in last Friday night's game, our quarterback [Marcus Harris] made good decisions. He threw the ball well. He didn't do anything to jeopardize the offense. We did have, I guess one fumble. ... We have to be more consistent on offense, put drives together and points at the end of drives."

Q: As far as the offemse, are you most concerned about the offensive line?

VH: They are starting to jell a little bit and we're blocking better. To be quite honest with you the football team we played last week was a heck of a football team. There were no weak spots on that team. They were sound in all phases of the game. And they were very athletic, very quick. We just had trouble containing them all night.

Q: It was a 7-7 game at halftime against Hazelwood Central. [The game ended in a 35-7 Hazelwood Central win.] What does your defense need to do better?

VH: We played real well in the first half. We played hard in the second half but we lost a little intensity in the second half. We just need to maintain our intensity for an entire game and not just a half.
