The scenario I talked about earlier panned out as the SEMO women's basketball team clinched at least a share of its third straight OVC regular-season title.

SEMO eased past Eastern Kentucky tonight at the Show Me Center 68-52, while Samford lost at Murray State 74-64.

The Redhawks lead Samford by two games with two remaining, but I doubt they'll have to settle for simply sharing the championship.

SEMO (21-6, 16-2) hosts Samford Thursday and Jacksonville State Saturday. One victory will set an OVC record for most conference wins, as SEMO is currently tied for that mark with 16, which the Redhawks have now reached three straight seasons.

The OVC has only used a 20-game conference schedule the past three years, so win totals were naturally lower for most of the league's history. Still, reaching the all-time mark would be a nice feat.

It's been another sensational season for the SEMO women, led by the exceptional coaching of John Ishee and great all-around play by the young ladies, especially defensively.

And I'll bet there will be plenty more high notes the rest of the way.

CONGRATS to the SEMO ladies!!

Maybe we could have Ishe coach both the women's team AND the men's team.

Great job... this is a special year for the Women! Probably their most dominant of the 3 OVC Title Years in fact!

Undefeated (10-0) on the road in the OVC!

And they haven't lost since the calendar flipped to 2008 outside of a close 3-point loss to Murray (who they late beat in Murray)!

That's pretty impressive stuff. Two more regular season OVC games to go before the tournament starts... I can't wait! Hopefully it'll be another fun journey for the Redhawks!!!
