Justin Christian's yo-yo baseball season continued Tuesday when the New York Yankees optioned the SEMO product back to Class AAA in order to make room for Hideki Matsui, who came off the 15-day disabled list.
Christian, who played just one season at SEMO -- in 2003, earning All-American honors -- was in his second stint with the Yankees this season.
An outfielder, Christian was called up by the Yankees earlier this summer for his major league debut. He was briefly sent back down to Class AAA a few weeks ago before being recalled again.
Christian saw action for the Yankees at all three outfield spots, primarily as a reserve, although he did make several starts. He was batting .250 (10-for-40) in 24 games, with three doubles, six runs scored, six RBIs and seven stolen bases in eight attempts.
Christian was not drafted out of SEMO and began his career in the independent Frontier League before being picked up by the Yankees' organization. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |
