SEMO's new SID comes highly recommendedPosted Friday, June 19, 2009, at 11:59 AM
For those people who have criticized me over the years for maybe not being controversial enough, I guess my most recent blog got some juices flowing.
Anyway, as for the news topic that was actually in that blog, I've heard nothing but good things about Jeff Honza, who will replace Ron Hines as SEMO's sports information director. Honza has been the associate director of media services at SIU-Carbondale for nearly the past nine years, People who know Honza well tell me he's extremely proficient in what he does and will do a great job here. Honza will officially begin his duties July 1, after Hines retires following 29 years on the job. By the way, after some serious thought based on many of the comments in that recent blog, I decided that I probably was a little out of line. Not that I still don't agree with what I wrote, but I probably just should have just not even broached the subject because I do really like everybody in the local media and think that, by and large, they do a very good job. Anyway, I decided to delete that blog. I figure most people who wanted to comment on it had already done so. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Well I expected SEMO to actually hold a press conference to introduce Jeff to the media. It's probably the BEST hire in recent years in SEMO Athletics.
Marty, I wouldn't lose any sleep over the matter. It's definitely news, but not something that people were sitting on pins and needles wondering who would replace Hines, or at least they shouldn't have been. If that's all people have to worry about, then they really have too much time on their hands. It's just not that big of a deal in my opinion.
Still a great hire for SEMO. Jeff will do an outstanding job for us.
"SEMO's new SIU comes highly recommended"
Is the error in the headline intentional or a shot at SEMO for hiring another Saluki?
semosoccer, who's pretending that it was a big deal? and who was worried? the discussion on marty's original blog (before he erased it) was over the missourian getting scooped and then getting mad about it, not whether it's a "big deal" or not.
Anyone should be an improvement over "800+". He was a big cancer in the athletic department that should have been removed many years ago.
