Ex-SEMO coaches fail to make cut at West FloridaPosted Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 11:08 AM
None of the three ex-SEMO coaches who were among the 144 people to apply for the men's basketball coaching position at Division II West Florida will be getting the job.
Neither Scott Edgar, Tommy Suitts or Tom Schuberth made the list of 10 finalists announced by the school this week. Edgar coached SEMO during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons before being fired for alleged NCAA rules violations. Suitts was a SEMO assistant in 2008-09 under acting coach Zac Roman while Schuberth was Gary Garner's chief recruiter for SEMO's lone OVC championship and NCAA Division I tournament team in 1999-2000. Schuberth has landed a coaching gig for next season as he takes over the program at Paris (Texas) Junior College. Schuberth was most recently the coach at Division I Texas-Pan American.
