SEMO to play at Miami (Ohio) in BracketBusters

Posted Thursday, February 4, 2010, at 10:51 AM

The SEMO men's basketball team will play at Miami (Ohio) Feb. 20 as part of the ESPN BracketBusters series. Game time is 1:30 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the programs.

SEMO and Miami have basically the same nickname, although Miami goes by RedHawks -- the H is capitalized -- while SEMO goes by Redhawks, with the h lower case.

Miami is currently 8-13 overall and third in the Mid-American Conference East Division standings at 5-3. The RedHawks are the third MAC team SEMO will play this year, joining Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan.

According to the BracketBusters setup, Miami will return the contest to Cape next season.

Wow it is 6 pm and the university hasn't released a list of LOIs for football. We may be the latest in division 1.

It was making the rounds via OVC media types on twitter (you know, media types actually in touch with technology). I would call Neil Bradley a fairly reliable source of OVC information.

I hate seeing three TN-Martin commits on that St. Louis list, and only one SEMO commit (chance for two). But who knows whether we offered the TN-Martin guys, I guess.

Worts will play with a pair of former teammates at Southeast Missouri State. Current Redhawks WR Chantae Ahamefule and DB Branden Spann are alums of Ferris.

Bet Baby Soderberg doesn't get near as many calls from the refs as he use to in high school.

They have Kramer Soderberg, Brads Son.

They hosted Eastern Michigan and beat them by 10. Of course we lost to Easterm Michigan by 10.

They play @ Northern Illinois on Feb 6th. We went to No. Ill and won by 6 earlier in the year in overtime.
