Ronnie Cookson, the Southeast Missouri basketball coaching legend, made it official Monday night. He's returning to the sideline next season.

If I were Cookson, I would have made the same decision. He's going to have one of, if not the, most talented team in the area. With Drew Thomas, Otto Porter and Bobby Hatchett back, the cupboard is packed with talent next season.

Cookson won 12 state titles during his first stint as coach, and next year's team has the potential to add No. 13. The game I'd love to see next season -- Sikeston vs. Scott County Central. Tickets would be tough to come by for the Porter vs. Porter game. Hopefully someone involved with the local showcases makes it happen.
