Cards make right move with LohsePosted Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at 12:43 AM
I think the Cardinals made the right move Monday by locking up Kyle Lohse early. I'm a little surprised he was willing to sign without testing the waters a little more. But I guess getting burned last year will do that to a guy.
Lohse led the Cardinals' staff this season, going 15-6 with a 3.78 ERA. He did win 14 games with the Twins in 2003, but his numbers aren't great besides that. He's 78-80 with a 4.67 ERA over his career. But he proved his worth this year, and like I said, it's a good move. But here's where I'd be a smidge worried if I was a Cardinals fan. The team can't think it's done now that it's locked up Lohse. A rotation of Chris Carpenter, Adam Wainwright and Lohse looks impressive on paper, but the Cardinals need to keep adding to the rotation. If there's a way to make Lohse the No. 4 guy in the rotation heading into the season, that would be a good move. The Cardinals can't stand pat on this one. See ya later, Linehan It was inevitable that Scott Linehan was going to get fired after the Rams fell to 0-4. The team wasn't performing and a change was needed. I understand that. What I don't understand is why the Rams went with Jim Haslett. Haslett did a decent job in New Orleans before experiencing a horrible year following Hurricane Katrina. But his defenses were pitiful in St. Louis. Shouldn't he be held accountable for the defense's performance? I didn't think he'd keep his job after last season and now he's the coach. How does that work? I don't like it one bit. Would someone explain it to me please? Throne of Honor We've got a guy who's becoming a regular on the Throne, the double play math man, 6+4+3=2. Well done. Congrats on answering another question correctly. You know your way to the top. Let's get to today's question, which will be tougher in honor of semo7178 , who claims my questions are too easy. So here it is: I want the longitude and latitude, down to the second, of the location of my graduate school alma mater. Ready, go. Reserved Parking The prime spot is making its way back down to Delta as Kendra Burnett and Taylor Keys combined for a five-inning no-hitter Monday. The two softball pitchers delivered as the Bobcats knocked off Clearwater. Congrats to Kendra and Taylor, you get to pull into the prime spot today. The regular season won't die That's right, the baseball regular season continues today as the White Sox host the Twins in a one-game playoff for the AL Central title. It's going to be exciting. The White Sox knocked off the hapless Tigers on Monday to force today's game. The White Sox are going with John Danks on short rest, while the Twins will go with Nick Blackburn. I can't imagine playing 162 games then have to play one more to decide the whole shootin' match. I'm pulling for the Twins in this one. Who are you taking? Today's Can't Miss It's got to be the one-game playoff between the White Sox and Twins, 6:30 p.m. on TBS, channel 10 in Cape. 43.039412,-76.13628 are the coordinates for 215 University Place Syracuse, NY 13244 aka Syracuse Univeristy.
I guess I should add it is for the Syracuse University - SI Newhouse School of Public Communications.
I'm going to have to go with the Twinkies too! Since really if you're going to support a team from Chicago it's gotta be the Cubbies! Also, I have to point out that up until the grand slam, you have to give credit to Detriot for actually putting in an effort in a game that would have absolutely no impact on them. Granted after the grand slam I think they kind of just gave up, but seriously, that's to be expected.
