Brent Little sighting
Wednesday nights we might get to see Poplar Bluff alum Brent Little on TV as HBO starts showing the series "Hard Knocks" (HBO, Wednesday, 9 p.m.). Brent is No. 13.
See the preview here.
Hopefully, Little gets a chance to play Saturday at Cleveland, the team that signed him out of college and cut him early last summer. He dressed for the Browns preseason game last year but did not play, then got cut to make room for a safety after a botched trade with the Jets.
Brent's bio is here.
The Star's Chiefs coverage is here.
UPDATE: I caught a quick shot of Brent during the segment on the Chiefs young wide receivers. Fortunately, they didn't show him dropping a pass. He was watching on the sidelines.
UPDATE II: Found this Friday in the KC Star:
Wide receiver Brent Little, who was raised mostly in Kansas City, is now doing what most boys who grow up in the area can only dream about. He's in camp with the Chiefs.Little was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., but moved to the Kansas City area when he was 3. He stayed through his freshman year of high school at St. Thomas Aquinas before finishing in Poplar Bluff and then moving on to college at Southern Illinois.
Little went to camp last year with Cleveland but never played in a preseason game. He is a long shot to stick with the Chiefs but is looking forward to Saturday night's game.
"I'm just thankful for the opportunity the Chiefs have given me," he said. "Saturday night is another opportunity to show them what I can do. Even if I don't get a chance to run some routes, I'll get to play on special teams. If I make this team, it will be on special teams first and foremost."
