Semoball Cup
Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.
Bess talks

I talked to Gene Bess and Michael Lance's parents before I tried to put everything into prospective with my Sunday column. If you can't wait until the DAR hits the street, here's what I thought was the most important thing said:
"Coach Bess and our family have talked and we have resolved this issue," said Mark Lance, Michael's father. "Attending Three Rivers was the best decision our children could have made and we will continue to support TRCC in both academic and athletic programs in the future."
They moved on long ago and so should we.
I'm heading to the zoo today, so no comments. I'll post the column when I get back Sunday night.
Also to answer Toby's question about turf, there is talk of adding turf to Poplar Bluff's Morrow Stadium. The hope is, as I understand it, that the revenue from the scoreboard ads will help pay for it and other improvements.
