Mizzou No. 3; basketball tab
That's the cover photo for our basketball tab, which I'm throwing together now and will be printed for Monday edition.
Meanwhile, the Tigers got a first-place vote in the AP poll while the Jayhawks got three. LSU is still No. 1 followed by Kansas, Missouri and West Virginia -- which also got a first-place vote. Hawaii, which won at Nevada on a late field goal, is 10-0 but dropped a spot to 14th.
It's probably a good sign Kansas is No.2 considering all the teams that have been there this season.
Like I said a few weeks ago, the Tigers are playing for the national title from here out. The MU-KU winner moves on to the Big 12 title game and if they win that game, they'll get the SEC champ in the title game.
Will it happen that way, probably not, but this fall has become a perfect example for the reason why college football needs a playoff system.
