Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Letter Club Banquet

Carr Trophy

Tickets are now on sale for the Poplar Bluff Letter Club Banquet which will be held Wednesday, Nov. 28 starting at 7 p.m. with dinner at the Poplar Bluff High School student center.

The SEMO All-Conference team will be honored and the Carr Trophy will be presented. Other awards presented include Coach of the Year, leading scorers, outstanding linemen, school sportsmanship award, as well as four Poplar Bluff awards.

The awards have taken over the banquet, which use to feature a speaker. Don Faurot, Joe Garagolia, Dan Devine, Al Onofrio, Chuck Fairbanks, Jay Randolph, Frank Beamer and many others have come to Poplar Bluff to speak.

This will be the 62nd banquet, which is the hard work of Sam Giambelluca.

Tickets are $10 per person if family members of the All-Conference first teamers want to attend. Tickets must be purchased before Monday, Nov. 26 by calling the PBHS Athletic office at (573) 785-6471.

Both players would make fine Carr Trophy winners, however, I'd throw in at least one Hayti player in as a finalist (good luck just picking one). The vote has already taken place.
Do family members attend? My son says they don't, but I wouldn't mind going.

There are a few every year, however, unless you're the parent of a scoring award, lineman award or Carr Trophy finalist, I wouldn't make the trip. The All-SEMO team gets a certificate, a letterman patch and a handshake from me. Not really exciting stuff. Toby plans on being there to do some video this year and we always post photos.
When are the all-conference teams going to be announced?
