Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Jake Leet scored 14 of his game-high 32 points in the fourth quarter to hold off the Mules.

Leet knocked down a pair of 3-pointers after Poplar Bluff tied the game at 58-58 with just under 4 minutes to play. Marcus Harris also scored during Jackson's 8-2 run. Leet hit 3 of 4 free throws in the final 35 seconds to seal the victory for the Indians (13-5, 4-0 SEMO).

Hunter Grantham added 12 points and Spencer Goodman chipped in 10 for Jackson, which shot 56 percent from the field despite a 6-minute stretch of the second quarter in which the Indians didn't score.

Jackson led 17-9 after one quarter and led by 12 before the Mules closed the half by scoring the final 10 points. Neither team scored in the final 3 minutes as the Indians led 23-22 at the break.

Goodman started a 13-3 run midway through the third quarter with a 3-pointer and Jackson led 47-42 after three quarters. Leet's 3-pointer gave the Indians an eight-point lead before the Mules (5-10, 1-1) rallied.

Jay Raulston led Poplar Bluff with 18 points while brother Riley added 14.

That was a solid game. I was impressed with the Bluff team, some good talent on that team! It was tough seeing Spencer go down, hopefully its not too bad. He seemed to be walking out of the gym better. One thing that did scare me was from our broadcast position, that buzzer on the clock was louuuud!!!!

I know what you mean about the buzzer, but it has to be because that gym can get very loud. I've seen plenty of games where we couldn't hear it on a last-second shot.
Jackson played a great game last night, I'm glad that I'm able to be a part of the program. Spencer is in my prayers that his knee is ok, I've blown both knees out and know the pain that's associated with it. Hopefully he'll be with us on Saturday in Jeff City. AND YES THAT BUZZER WAS LOUD... DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO A BROADCAST SITTING UNDER THERE AGAIN... LOL

Oh I can imagine, especially back a few years ago when Tyler was there. But it was a very nice facility with alot of history in it. And a good game on top of that!

Jake can score so many ways that he can create alot of opportunities not only for himself, but for his teammates. I think his best asset is his slashing abilities. I haven't seen many high school players around here move so well without the ball. Definitely a talented player on a talented team for Jackson.

Great job Indians. Most peolpe figured you wouldn't be able to beat Notre Dame or Poplar Bluf. Good luck with Jefferson City on saturday and pray that Spencer is okay.

An update on the Union City Tornadoes who won the tournament in Poplar Bluff..

The first polls came out and they are the #1 ranked team in the state in 1A ball and have a record of 20-0...Tony Wilkins,their second leading scorer,who did not play at all in the tourney,returned to action the first game back after coming back from Missouri and has healed fine..He had 20 points in a 40 point win last nite..

That 10 games ago he had an off night and since he is averaging 20+ per game against much tougher opponents.
