Mules 56, Jackson 48
More in Wednesday's DAR, but here's a quick recap:
JACKSON -- Poplar Bluff overcame a six-point deficit in the final quarter as Riley Raulston hit a 3-pointer and reserve Jordan Marler canned two more to rally the Mules to a 56-48 win at Jackson on Tuesday night.
Raulston scored 15 points while Chris Kilgore added 12 for the Mules.
Bobby Clark scored 15 for Jackson while Henrie Williams added 12. Kyle Keith's 3-pointer with 53 seconds remaining pulled the Indians to within 49-48 after Poplar Bluff opened the fourth quarter with a 16-2 run.
The Mules closed out the win by hitting 7-of-8 free throws in the final minute.
There were 10 lead changes and nine ties in the first half with Poplar Bluff taking a 23-21 lead into halftime. The Mules pulled out to a six-point lead midway through the third quarter, but didn't score over the final 3:50 as Jackson surged ahead with an 11-0 run.
Raulston hit a 3 to start the fourth quarter and Marler later hit another to tie the game with 5:47 to play. He hit another a minute later for the lead and after a pair of Jackson free throws, Ben Knuckles scored to put the Mules up 44-41.
A three-point play by Jay Raulston, who finished with seven points and eight rebounds, pushed the lead to six with 3:31 to go and Kilgore hit two free throws at the 2:14 mark for a 49-41 lead.
Jackson rallied on Marcus Harris' jumper before his steal and layin closed the gap to four. After the Mules missed a pair of one-and-one opportunities at the line, Keith canned a deep 3 to pull Jackson to within one.
Just noticed a mistake in my story from today's paper, Marler did hit a 3-pointer against Twin Rivers but I missed it when writing the story in the wee hours this morning.
