Can't escape Tyler
While on vacation in San Francisco I've tried to avoid sports as much as possible. Even though the Giants' Tim Lincecum pitched Tuesday night just across the Bay in Oakland. Could have gone, but passed it up to spend time with my wife.
Haven't picked up a paper or turned on SportsCenter (other than to get a Cardinals score) but sitting here checking my email at a coffee joint (love that free Wifi), I see a SF Chronicle and need to kill some time while Jen is in a meeting (she has a conference and her vacation starts tonight). Back on page D7 what do I see but Tyler Hansbrough throwing up one of his jump-put shots with a story about the Thursday night's NBA Draft.
Rob Tate will have a story on Tyler in Thursday's DAR while he and Alex Abate will have full coverage of the Draft in Friday's edition. (Note to my boss, I bought the plane tickets in March not knowing the date of the draft, not that I had much of a choice other than vacation or divorice.)
Anyway, good luck to the teams that pass on Tyler. It seems like everybody who ever said he couldn't do something -- win a state title, play in college, win a national title, finish college, play in the NBA, whatever -- just fuels this guy that much more.
As for when Hansbrough will be picked, nobody seems to know. I know this, if he goes to Memphis, there will be a lot of season tickets sold to the 63901 area code. If he goes to Golden State, my vacation is over early.
