Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Mules go 1-1 at Riverbend Classic

Poplar Bluff beat Pine Bluff, Ark. on Friday afternoon to open its season. The Mules opened the season half with a 14-2 run and won 73-59.

Jay Raulston had 22 points and 10 rebounds while Eljie Johnson added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Mules.

Poplar Bluff lost 62-31 to Memphis Central on Saturday in a rematch of a Riverbend Classic game last year which the Mules won.

Jake White led Poplar Bluff with 11 points while Raulston added eight.

I know this is off topic, but any stories on Carr trophy candidates?

Have not heard anything much about Football since the local teams lost and only Valle represented at Show ME Bowl in St Louis....

Some of us are still in a bit of withdrall....thank goodness for College and Pro football still competing....

The Carr Trophy would have to go to Juqualin Wiggins, without question. After that, your candidates would be Poplar Bluff's Ferguson and Johnson, Sikeston's Eli Jackson, and NMCC's GDarius Stevenson, although juniors never win the award. I don't know of any others. I hear that Fonda kid from Caruthersville had a good year. I guess Farmington is now included in the Carr Trophy conversation as well? If that's the case, then Hibbitts would be a candidate too.

the carr trophy will be awarded tomorrow night at the annual semo conference banquet in pb. i could tell you now, but i'd have to kill you. lol.
